“Again one of the great opposite poles… and one of the paradoxes of truth recurs again and again in literature, does this, in deep occult literature does this parody of truth. You see?

“It’s rather like this: that the state of meditation is above mind, because it is not mind, it is not mind because it is all mind.

“You see, if you can imagine, for instance, something like this: you can imagine, for instance, a man standing on the Earth, owning nothing whatsoever, he owns nothing.

“Reckon that man is a great Master. Now he owns no worldly things at all. Why? Because he owns the whole world. If he owned one thing, he wouldn’t own the whole. Do you see what I mean?

“It’s like a person giving their love to all instead of to one. Such a person might not like anybody, yet love all. It’s one of these strange parodies of Truth which I’m afraid do occur. And Truth has a negative pole as well as a positive pole.

“Negative, now, in the right sense—not negative dark or wrong, but negative as a magnetic thing. And it’s one of the things you can use to test Truth.

“Whosoever declares to you a statement as being true, you can test it, you can look for its negative pole, look for its positive pole. If it doesn’t have them both, it’s not one of the great Truths and will consequently not last, you see. That is it.”
