What is science? It’s trying to know the nature of the universe. And what is religion, if not the same, and trying to apply those laws to bring about the greatest benefit.
[Darren] I think one question that’s popular today but deserves a real answer is whether we are really all one with all life, and do the things that we do really affect all life, and then what does that mean for the way that we should live our life?
[Mark] Well, the answer is definitely: yes, and: everything. Yes, we are one with all life. Yes, we affect all life. What should we do about it? Everything. Everything we do in life should be governed by that one question: how do we affect all other life?
Oneness is such a beautiful thing and such a profound thing… I hardly know where to begin to be honest. It’s like with so many spiritual truths, it’s one thing to believe it as a theory and it’s another thing to really realize it. And as you begin to realize it, it’s so beautiful that it’s almost terrifying that you really are one with all life; that God is all; that therefore… We tend to think of like science and religion; the spiritual and the secular; these are distinctions that are completely nonsensical in cosmic terms because all is God.
Therefore, all religion is science and all science is religion, if it’s true religion and if it’s true science. You cannot distinguish between the two. Just like in one way you can’t distinguish between God and manifestation, because all of manifestation is an aspect of God.
And yet of course, in another way, we have to make that distinction, and it’s a very important distinction to see the difference between that which changes, that which is transient, that which is temporary compared to the eternal Spirit that is the Divine.
To take it back to science and religion, it’s really that if they’re both true then it’s just a question of the lens that you’re looking at the world through. But even the lens in time will be the same thing. Because both are, well hopefully anyway, trying to get to truth, and trying to express truth.
If they’re both true then it’s just a question of the lens that you’re looking at the world through. But even the lens in time will be the same thing. Because both are, well hopefully anyway, trying to get to truth, and trying to express truth.
They have different approaches and they both have their flaws the way things are on earth at the moment, but there will come a day on this planet when the two are completely united to the point where any distinction between the two is meaningless. What is science? It’s trying to know the nature of the universe. And what is religion, if not the same, and trying to apply those laws to bring about the greatest benefit.
