A conversation on Wisdom

by Sep 6, 2016

In this week’s video Mark and Darren discuss the true meaning of wisdom as given by Dr. George King, and the most important question we can each ask ourselves on the spiritual path.

Dr. King describes wisdom as “love in action”… What’s the greatest good that you can do to help either another person or the world as a whole towards its greater evolution… Evolution in its really important sense: the evolution of consciousness from a consciousness of vengefulness, hatred, greed etc. towards a consciousness where we all become better people.

[Mark] I think the first thing to look at is what wisdom really is. This is something… we all know the word, and sometimes we might talk about it, but what does it really mean?

Well, Dr. King describes wisdom as “love in action” but to understand that we again need to think what “love” really means and love is – to Dr. King – is such a different thing to what we might think it is. And as the Master Aetherius has said, “Love is not possession”.

Love is not about wanting something for one’s self for some kind of materialistic or egotistical satisfaction. Love is not about controlling something in order to have a sense of power, and love is not even about happiness. Love is about sacrifice.

Actually, in The Nine Freedoms the Karmic Lord Mars Sector 6 has stated that:

“LOVE is sacrifice – real sacrifice.”

So there we have a very simple but very clear definition of what Love is. It’s sacrifice in the real sense of giving something up for a higher cause – a genuinely higher cause. Actually the derivation of the word sacrifice is “to make holy”. That’s what the word originally meant. And whenever we do make a true sacrifice we are performing a holy act.

The greatest question of all has to be always “what is the greatest good I can do on Earth?” Not, “what is the greatest good that I would like to do to help the people that I like and the people who will thank me and the people who will give me recognition?”

Because service I think really starts when you’re helping people who maybe don’t care about you at all. People who maybe you don’t even know. People who maybe will never thank you. People who maybe don’t even like you.

And of course the greatest service, really, is when you help an enemy. What does that mean? It seems counterintuitive. It seems illogical. “To help an enemy? What? So you’re at war with someone and you give them secret information so they kill your people?” No, that is not what I mean at all. That is not helping an enemy. In fact, that is actually going against the evolution of that enemy because if you were to do that with an enemy you would be facilitating that enemy’s ability to do evil, which would not be helping them from an evolutionary point of view.

What I mean by “helping an enemy” is praying for someone to be enlightened. If someone does you harm – if someone is evil in the world – if we pray for them to be enlightened we can’t lose because if they really accept that energy, and they use it to bring about a change within themselves, they’re going to be a better person, to the point ultimately where enmity will be alien to their natures – to take it to an extreme degree.

Obviously, one little prayer isn’t going to turn an awful person into a great saint but the more we pray in this way, and the more we condition our thoughts in this way, then the greater the change will be in such people.

[Darren] It’s interesting that you bring in the concept of evolution because if you distil it down and we look at everything from an evolutionary standpoint, that’s really what it comes down to: how you’re helping… what’s the greatest good that you can do to help either another person or the world as a whole towards its greater evolution.

[Mark] Yes, exactly. Evolution in its really important sense: the evolution of consciousness from a consciousness of vengefulness, hatred, greed etc. towards a consciousness where we all become better people.
